The way to Marangu

First stop. Moving to Marangu entrance to the Kilimanjaro National Park and start climbing. The first shelter in Mandara at mt. 2750 is reachable after 4 hours walking, through a vast tropical forest area.

Second stop. After having walked through the last part of the forest you can enter the savanna with trees and the moorland up to the Horombo shelter at mt. 3.700 where you overnight.

Third stop. You go on climbing after the last water source and you go through the Grande Sella at mt. 4.000, which extends itself between Kibo and Mawenzi. Supper and overnight at Kibo shelter at mt. 4.700.

Fourth stop. In the middle of the night you leave for the difficult climbing along the detritus stratum up to Gillman's Point at mt. 5.681 at the crater.If you are in a good phisical condition and the weather is good you can go on to Uhuru peak at mt. 5.896 which is the highest part of Africa.
Afterwards you come back to Kibo shelter and you go on to Horombo shelter for the overnight.

Fifth stop. Down to Marangu at the Park entrance.
